MANILA, Philippines - Gaston Petit, the French Canadian Dominican priest, will lecture today at 9 a.m. on Japanese aesthetics at the University of Santo Tomas Archives.
Father Petit, an artist and writer, is also an authority on Japanese aesthetics having lived and taught in Japan for more than four decades. A multilingual scholar, he divides his time between Quebec in Canada and Tokyo. He works in sculpture, stained glass, lithography and church design. His paintings and prints have shown all over the world: New Delhi, Paris, London, Montreal, San Francisco and Manila (at Solidaridad Galleries).
His work can be found in museums and in the private collections of prime ministers and princes.
