River of Our Dreams
MANILA, Philippines -In an effort to help in the rehabilitation of the Pasig River, Manila Contemporary has recently unveiled a 15-photograph story of the river at its gallery at White Space on Pasong Tamo, Makati City. Dubbed "River of Our Dreams," photographer Frankie Callaghan breaks away from the allure of urban landscapes and focuses his lens on the elusive beauty of the Pasig River. The solo exhibition is part of the Artists for Pasig River which started with Art Flood 2010, a three-day art market where artists and collectors sell modern and contemporary artworks for the benefit of the river rehabilitation program. The exhibition timely foregrounds the Run for Pasig River 10.10.10, a massive rehabilitation effort that calls on 120,000 runners from different sectors, which include government agencies, schools, and business corporations. Part of the proceeds from the sales of these new works for the whole duration of the exhibit will also go to the Kapit-Bisig Para sa Ilog Pasig Foundation. "River of Our Dreams" runs from October 2 until October 24 at the 2nd floor of the gallery of Manila Contemporary.
