MANILA, Philippines - ABS-CBN news anchor Julius Babao and his artist friends community will mount an art auction to support Gawad Kalinga Art 2 Heart Village in Sitio Amparo, Caloocan City on Aug. 7, 5 p.m. at Art Informal, 277 Connecticut St., Greenhills East, Mandaluyong City.
Last year, Julius and his friends raised around P2.7 million for the construction of 30 houses in the Art 2 Heart Village whose beneficiaries were victims of typhoon Ondoy.
In 2008, their group donated 30 houses to the Gawad Kalinga Art 40 Village in Bagong Silang, Caloocan City.
This time they will be auctioning off three paintings by contemporary artists Mark Justiniani, John Santos and Pam-Yan Santos. Funds raised from Art 2 Heart 2 auction will be used to build more GK houses.
“John, Pam and Mark were supposed to be part of the first Art 2 Heart auction at the Ateneo Professional School. They couldn’t make it last year because they were tied up with their own exhibits. They promised to help in our next auction. They’ve already submitted their works,” Julius says. “The paintings are outstanding. They are donating a huge part of the proceeds from the sale of their artworks to Gawad Kalinga. “
