‘Everyday Filipino Heroes’ and ‘Dekalogo’ at Vargas Museum

The Center for Art, New Ventures and Sustainable Development (CANVAS), in cooperation with the Vargas Museum and with support from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), present two major exhibitions — “Everyday Filipino Heroes” and “Dekalogo” — on view until May 31 at the Vargas Museum of the University of the Philippines, Diliman, QC.

The shows are aimed at promoting meaningful, relevant, and transformative elections in the Philippines.

“Everyday Filipino Heroes” features works by emerging and senior artists that send a collective message about the role of the electorate in free elections, while Salingpusa artists Elmer Borlogan, Manny Garibay, Anthony Palomo, Karen Flores, Jose Santos III, Cris Villanueva, Jim Orencio, Tammy Tan, Neil Manalo, and Ferdie Montemayor reflect on Apolinario Mabini’s “10 Commandments” for Filipinos in “Dekalogo.”

The show will move to Ricco-Renzo Gallery from May 14 to 18 and May 21 to 25; SM Southmall, May 28 to June 1; SM Marikina, June 4 to 8; SM Batangas, June 11 to 15; SM Manila, June 18 to 22; SM Taytay, June 25 to 29; SM Clark, July 2 to 6; and SM Megamall from July 19 to 23.
