'Harana' tours the Visayas

-

MANILA, Philippines - After a successful international show in the Netherlands last year, Harana will venture on its first Visayan Tour from May 17 to 30 as part of the National Heritage Festival celebration.

Harana features singers Karla Gutierrez, Florence Aguilar, Arlynne Lupas-Tecson, Jennifer Villegas, Sherwin Sozon, Miguel Castro and Nazer Salcedo. Harana showcases song, dance and drama all at the same time. The Philippine Opera Company (POC) has handpicked the most versatile and celebrated classical and musical theater singers in the country today to bring life and passion to these beautiful indigenous and Filipino classics. The POC’s cultural repertoire showcases the evolution of Philippine music through song, movement, and drama. The show consists of six suites — the Igorot, Maria Clara, Rural, Folk, Muslim and the Contemporary — each theatrically presented with authenticity, originality, and visual excitement. The creation of each suite is a product of thorough research with the commitment to preserve indigenous music, dance, and folklore.

The POC performs in SM City Cebu (May 18), Bohol Cultural Center (May 21), SM City Ilo-ilo (May 23), CAP Auditorium in Antique (May 25), Capiz Gym (May 27), Puerta Princessa (May 29).

The Harana Visayan tour is produced in cooperation with the Filipino Heritage Festival Foundation and National Commission for the Culture and the Arts.
