MANILA, Philippines - A lecture-concert entitled “Canciones de la Revolucion Filipina, 1872-1898” (Songs of the Philippine Revolution, 1872-1898) will feature a selection of patriotic songs with Filipino and Spanish lyrics that emerged between 1872 and 1898. Presented by Tawid Publications, this project is made possible through a grant from the Spanish Program for Cultural Cooperation headed by Señor Jose Rodriguez in collaboration with Instituto Cervantes, Manila. As part of the Instituto’s “Dia del Libro 2010” calendar, the lecture-concert will be presented on April 24, Saturday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Salon de Actos, Instituto Cervantes.
The lecturer, musical arranger, and composer is Raul M. Sunico, Ph.D. and Doctor of Humanities, Honoris Causa. The performers are Coro Tomasino, choir; Ronan Ferrer, conductor and tenor; Ruben Reyes, guitar; Enrique Barcelo, flute; and Jason Ros, piano. The project directors and researchers are Evelyn Cabanban and Melissa Moran; with featured artworks by Manuel Baldemor.
