MANILA, Philippines - The National Book Development Board will host an afternoon of conversation on Philippine literature and publishing with Miguel Syjuco at the Filipinas Heritage Library on April 14, at 3 p.m. He will be joined by STAR columnist and UP Institute of Creative Writing director Jose Dalisay and publisher Antonio Hidalgo.
Almost two years after Canada-based Filipino writer Miguel Syjuco won the prestigious Man Asia Literary Prize for his novel Ilustrado, the book will finally make its debut in Manila. The novel, which begins as a murder mystery, expands into a family saga spanning more than a century of Philippine history. Syjuco, who is now based in Montreal, Canada will be flown in by MacMillan, the publisher of Illustrado.
