Two writers discuss European culture at Instituto Cervantes
MANILA, Philippines - In an effort to increase the knowledge of people about the rich European history and culture, Instituto Cervantes de Manila presents “Escribir Europa (Writing Europe )” a discussion about the continent that has left an indelible mark in the cultural evolution of Humanity. It is scheduled tomorrow at 7 p.m. at Instituto Cervantes’ Salon de Actos.
This lecture is also in celebration of Spain’s presidency of the European Union (EU).
“Cultural heritage is not limited to material manifestations, such as monuments and valuable objects that have been preserved over time. Cultural heritage also includes living expressions and the traditions that communities worldwide have inherited from their ancestors and transmit to their descendants,” Instituto Cervantes director José Rodríguez said.
The talk, which will be in English, features Spanish writer Ignacio del Valle and Filipino editor Ramón Súnico. Both having lived in several European countries, they will talk about Europe, its literature and its contributions to the world.
“Escribir Europa” is organized by Instituto Cervantes de Manila in collaboration with the Spanish Embassy in the Philippines, and Spanish Agency International Cooperation for Development (AECID).
