'Ballet & Ballads' moved to March 19
MANILA, Philippines - Ballet Manila’s Ballet & Ballads, featuring balladeer Basil Valdez and originally scheduled on Feb. 19, 20 and 21, will be postponed to March 19, 20 and 21 at the same venue, Aliw Theater at the CCP Complex, Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City.
Ballet Manila management announced the postponement after principal dancer Lisa Macuja-Elizalde sustained a minor injury during stage rehearsals for the show which was to have featured her in spot numbers interpreting the signature hits of Valdez.
Holders of tickets to the original show dates will be accommodated on any of the new dates: March 19, 7:30 p.m.; March 20, 5 p.m.; and March 21, 1 p.m.
“I will be back in dancing form in a month’s time,” assured Macuja-Elizalde, who expressed regret that her much anticipated pairing up with Basil Valdez onstage will have to wait a while longer. “Definitely, I won’t miss this chance to perform with the ultimate ballad icon. Getting to dance to his hits like Ngayon at Kailanman, Kastilyong Buhangin and Corner of the Sky is a dream for me and Ballet Manila.”
Ballet & Ballads, a brainchild of Manila Broadcasting Company chairman Fred J. Elizalde, is a unique presentation where a full-fledged ballet in the classical, neo-classical and contemporary styles is performed to live singing onstage by a guest solo artist or musical group.
