Lito Casaje's 'Dolores' premieres in Cinemanila
MANILA, Philippines - Lito Casaje’s full-length independent film, Dolores, will have its world premiere at the Market! Market! Cinemas on Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. It will be featured as one of the six finalists competing in the Digital Lokal Section of this year’s Cinemanila International Festival to be held from Oct. 15 to 25 at the Market! Market! Cinemas of Global City in The Fort, Taguig.
A poignantly twisted tale of parental love and lust, Dolores is about a young adolescent torn between the love and desire of his family members. Having been raised in a cocooned world where everyone turns a blind eye on each other’s self gratification, Dolores’s sense of innocence begins to warp until it eventually breaks into a childlike kind of self-destruction.
Dolores features seasoned film and theater actors, Dido de la Paz, Mailes Kanapi, Amante Pulido, Conrad de Guzman, Keith Cabanez, RJ Maximo, Joseph Garcia, Redentor Esguerra, and introducing Lara Buenaventura as Dolores. With screenplay by Lito Casaje and Jerry Garcia, associate direction and editing by Lawrence Fajardo and Jobin Ballesteros, cinematography by Andrew Topacio, production management by Jerry Garcia, sound design by Alan Hilado, production design by Raven Ong, art direction by Aaron Hernandez, second assistant direction by Heather Europa, and produced by Lito Casaje and Jerry Garcia for Dramatis Personae.
Dolores is supported in part by Barcelo Café, Nature’s Spring and Pixel Art Media Production.
An afternoon matinee screening is also scheduled on Oct. 21, 4 p.m., also at the Market! Market! Cinemas. For tickets, reservations and student discounts, call the Cinemanila Secretariat at 392-7935 and 842-9672, e-mail cinemanila@gmail.com, or visit www.cinemanila.org.ph.
