Theater Down South revisits 'Treasure Island'
MANILA, Philippines - Theater Down South presents Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic tale of pirates, buried gold and swashbuckling adventure on the high seas.
Treasure Island the musical by Jim Eiler and Jeanne Bargy runs until Nov. 29 at The Insular Life Theater in Alabang. The show is directed by Michael Williams. Show dates are Oct. 11 and 31, and Nov. 8, 22 and 29. All shows are at 3 p.m.Theater Down South is a company committed to providing educational and family friendly entertainment in the South Metro area and Treasure Island is its third offering, following Rapunzel in 2008 and A Midsummer Night’s Dream in 2007.
With A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the company featured a 3D replica of the Globe Theater and with Rapunzel, it presented fun facts and games about the Brothers Grimm and their fairy tales. For Treasure Island, the stage display will include information on pirates and pirate life as well as a 3D shipwreck.
Theater Down South will also be giving away a free pirate pouch for each child, which will contain chocolate candy coins provided by Goya. The educational shows feature pre-theater classroom visits and post-show discussions with the actors.
