Gantimpala tours with Jesse Lucas' 'Cinderella'
MANILA, Philippines - As part of its 32nd season celebration, Gantimpala Theater stages Jesse Lucas’ Cinderella under the direction of Tony S. Espejo.
Espejo works again with his award-winning tandem — musical composer Lucas and playwright J. Dennis Teodosio (the same duo behind Ang Pagong at ang Matsing, 2008 Aliw Award Best Musical Production), as they bring life to this delightful fairy tale, now presented as a Filipino children’s musicale.
The well-loved fairy tale characters are played by Kathleen Hermosa (Cinderella), Francis Ong (Prince Federick), Meliza Reyes (Agrippina), Melanie Dujunco (Assunta), Bench Bautista (Alessandra), Francis Cruz (Tagpi), Rene Nisperos (Muning), Elizabeth Barquin (Lilet), Mayen Estañero (Barbi), Flerida Capiral (Gretchen), Jose Jeffrey Camañag (Hari), Ruth Alferez (Reyna), Julius Empredo (Mensahero), Khristen Veramarie Capiral (Apo) and Ermie Concepcion (Lola Basyang).
Assisting Espejo create the magical world of Cinderella are Joey Nombres (lights designer), Edel Templonuevo (sets designer), Albert Figueras (costumes designer), Norman Peñaflorida (production manager) and Glenda Alday (stage manager).
Performances are slated on Sept. 18 (10 a.m./2 p.m.) at Expo Filipino, Clark, Pampanga, and Oct. 14 and 15, (10 a.m./2 p.m.) at AFP Theater, Quezon City.
