UP College of Fine Arts celebrates a century in the arts
MANILA, Philippines - The University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts (UP CFA), the oldest teaching institution in the visual arts in the Philippines is marking its 100 years of providing visual arts instruction in the UP.
In celebration, the CFA Alumni Foundation Inc. (CFAAFI) is organizing an alumni homecoming titled, “Isang Siglo ng Paglikha” (A Century of Creativity) on Sept. 19. The CFAAFI is calling on all alumni to gather at the Bahay ng Alumni, UP Diliman. The event will start off with sketching sessions, followed by elections of new trustees, and ending with cocktails, dinner fellowship and raffle.
Since its foundation, CFAAFI has embarked on projects that benefited faculty, students and fellow alumni, such as the setting up of the Sculpture Garden at the back of the college, renovation and upkeep of the equipment and classrooms in the college, as well as supporting its faculty in attending seminars related to the arts. The foundation has also lent its support to various student-led activities aiming to unify the members such as the successful annual art fairs.
In its over a hundred years of providing instruction in the various visual arts programs, the college has produced graduates that have become leaders in various endeavors in the visual arts.
