'World Press Photo Exhibition' at SM Malls
MANILA, Philippines – Some of the world’s most moving photos are on view at the “World Press Photo Exhibition” at SM Malls starting Aug. 1.
Each year an independent 13-member jury judges entries in 10 different categories submitted by photojournalists, agencies, newspapers, magazines from all corners of the world. This year’s World Press competitions attracted 5,508 photographers from 124 countries. In total 96,298 images were entered in the contest.
The exhibit, which features 196 photographs, is an annual public showcase for photojournalism, and consists of the year’s winning photo, together with award winning images from each of the 10 contest categories.
In the Philippines, the “World Press Photo Exhibition” will be on view at The Podium from Aug. 1 to 8, then proceed to The Block at SM City North-EDSA from Aug. 9 to 14, and close at SM Mall of Asia on Aug. 15 to 23.
The Philippine run is a joint partnership of the Konrad Adenauer Asia Center for Journalism at the Ateneo de Manila University, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Univeler Philippines, and The Podium, SM City North-EDSA, and SM Mall of Asia.
The exhibition is open to the public and free of charge.
