Trio Concertino Prague performs at Mandarin Oriental
MANILA, Philippines - The Trio Concertino Prague performs on May 17 at 7 p.m. at The Tivoli restaurant of Mandarin Oriental, Manila as part of its Asian tour 2009.
The concert is presented by Swiss International Airlines, Lufthansa German Airlines in cooperation with Mandarin Oriental, Manila, the Embassy of the Czech Republic and Czech Airlines. A three-course menu precedes the concert, which starts at 8:30 p.m.
Trio Concertino is composed of Ivo Kahanek, piano; Jan Fisher, violin; and Tomas Jamnik, violoncello. Their repertoire consists of: James Brahm’s Trio in B Major, Op.8 (later version); Josef Suk’s Elegy, Op.23; and Bedrich Smetana’s Trio in G Minor, Op.15.
The group was formed in 1999 at the Prague Conservatory in the class of Prof. Jaroslav Moucka, and since then, it has established itself among the leading piano trios in the Czech Republic. In 2007, it bagged the Prize of the Czech Chamber Music Society and in 2004, won first prize in the Martinu Foundation Piano Trio competition.
