Street dance forum at CCP

MANILA, Philippines - The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) will convene a Street Dance Forum to be held on April 23 at the CCP Silangan Hall from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Held in partnership with Manila Broadcasting Company, the forum precedes the annual Aliwan Fiesta Street Dance Competition.

With the theme “Traditional and Contemporary Expressions in Street Dance,” the forum will have choreographers, producers and collaborators in a dialogue with artistic leaders and academics to discuss current issues regarding the production of street dance festivals, and outline strategies to make the genre reflective of the distinct cultures of their communities. Modules are on choreography for festival street dance, production design and theatricality in street dance, as well as on indigenous music and popular arrangement. The forum will also tackle on the best practices and success stories in street dance.

Premier cultural researcher Dr. Nicanor G. Tiongson, choreographer Edna Vida-Froilan, theater director Chris B. Millado, professor Felipe de Leon Jr. engage with the artistic leaders of the various street dance contingents from all over the country.
