Poetry appreciation seminar slated
MANILA, Philippines - Designed by Words Writers Workshop is hosting “Lighting the Lamp in a Hurricane: A Poetry Appreciation Seminar” on March 14, Saturday, at the Trinity Bldg., T.M. Kalaw Ave., Ermita, Manila.
The five-hour lecture is designed to shed light on the nuts and bolts of poetry as exemplified by works of poets with different style, voice and artistic agenda. The seminar is envisioned to give the attendee a more familiar grasp of the poetic language that will help him read a poem with a broader and a more creative and critical perspective and hopefully facilitate him in writing his own verses.
The seminar will be given by Carlomar Arcangel Daoana, author of the poetry collection Marginal Bliss published by the UP Press in 2002. He was a fellow of the UP National Writers’ Workshop, Illigan National Writers’ Workshop and the National Writers’ Workshop in Dumaguete. A former junior associate of the UST Center for Creative Writing and Studies, he will serve as a panelist in the 10th UST National Writers Workshop organized by the Office of the Writer-in-Residence this May.
Workshop fee is P500 inclusive of meals and writer’s kit. Pre-registration is required. To register and for inquiries, call 536-1926; email dbw.workshops@gmail.com or visit http://designedbywords.wordpress.com.
