MANILA, Philippines - Classical guitarist Ivar Nicholas Fojas will hold a solo concert on March 7, 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., at the San Beda Alabang Chapel.
Fojas will perform classical guitar pieces as well as his new arrangements of the works of renowned Filipino composers Lucio San Pedro, Santiago Suarez, and Leopoldo Silos. The concert is produced by San Beda College.
A graduate of the University of the Philippines-Diliman, Fojas was mentored and trained by maestro Jose Valdez and Lester Demetillo. He formed and directed the Kithara Guitar Quartet in 2003.
Fojas uses a six-string and an eight-string guitar especially built for him by Spain-based guitar maker and flamenco guitarist maestro Adolfo Timuat Toyoda. He has performed in Europe, Scandinavia, and Russia.
Fojas is currently working on a solo album that will feature Filipino music, and his own compositions and new guitar arrangements.
