The business of singing

MANILA, Philippines - In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), the country’s business leaders perform with outstanding classical artists in “Counterpoint: Musical Suites for Leaders of the 21st Century” on March 6, 8 p.m. at the CCP, Roxas Blvd., Pasay City.

The one-night-only event features musical suites depicting the common principles shared by great art and great leadership. McCann Worldgroup chairman emeritus Emily Abrera serves as the narrator. Golden Arches Development Corporation chairman George Yang performs excerpts from the opera Rigoletto and La Traviata, while ABS-CBN Broadcasting Network president Charo Santos Concio reads the poems of Pablo Neruda and ABC-5 president Antonio Cojuangco Jr. leads the classical guitar ensemble in a suite of Spanish and Filipino pieces.

Other performers are soprano Rachelle Gerodias, pianists Della Besa and Anamaria de Guzman, violinists Joseph Esmilla and Gina Medina, violist Dino Decena, cellist Renato Lucas, Gary Valenciano, the Philippine Madrigal Singers, St. Scholastica’s College of Music Guitar Orchestra, and the Guitar Friends Ensemble whose members include businessmen Greg Yu, Jaddy Vitug, and Vince Abella; the Philippine Ballet Theatre, and the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra with PPO Conductor Laureate Oscar Yatco as music director and conductor.
