MANILA, Philippines - National Artist for Literature F. Sionil Jose delivered a lecture on “The Role of Literature in Shaping the Future of One’s Nation” recently at the First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities (FAITH) in Tanauan City, Batangas.
The 1980 Ramon Magsaysay awardee for Journalism, Literature and Creative Communication Arts focused on the vital role literature plays in building a country, emphasizing that writers help in creating memories.
The symposium was organized by the FAITH Unified School English Department as part of its English Week program. The activity aims to heighten the interest of high school students in literature and instill in them the value of reading.
FAITH is an institution of higher learning and research. It is envisioned to be a premier educational organization in the high-growth region south of Metro Manila.
