Reflections of Sagada in Crucible show

-

Mike Aquino revisits Sagada in “Sagada: Mountain Reflections,” an exhibition of paintings on view until Nov. 23 at The Crucible Gallery, fourth floor of SM Megamall A, Mandaluyong City.

In the midst of the Sagada pine groves, Aquino, reaching deep within himself, discovered the root of his art. The imagery he transcribes on the whiteness of paper is drizzled by the marvelous watercolors. The paintings of trees are pervaded by the enduring delights and pleasures of Impressionism. No doubt it was the meditative mood and contemplative stillness, which the Saga pine forests conveyed, that inspired Aquino to capture and crystallize in his watercolor works.
