Eurêka! Theme Parties: Where Fantasy Merge With Reality

Imagine beautiful fairies garbed in pixie attires with golden wings, topped with curtains of bubbles and classical music as your beloved fairy-child is presented to your guests. Or a parade of princes and princesses in halls streaming with drapes and shields reminiscent of medieval times. Eureka! is the brainchild of partners Stephanie Claire Belmonte and Maimai Yebes — yuppies in their early 30’s and 20’s who conceptualized the one-stop theme party shop in 2002 inspired by the need to provide convenience to dual income families, be around children, and to introduce a brand new way to celebrate life through one-of-a-kind theme parties and gatherings.

Stephanie Claire Belmonte is a 30 year old single-parent with a background in marketing and public relations. She is a Political Science graduate of De La Salle University and has handled various corporate stints prior to becoming a freelance writer and managing partner of Eurêka! Theme Parties. Co-managing partner Maimai Yebes is a pre-school teacher of De La Salle Zobel, having finished a double degree in AB Psychology and BS Education in De La Salle University. Both young entrepreneurs have focused their creative energies to come up with a novel approach to partying — something they encourage other young women to do regardless of their status in life.

"When I was a part of the corporate world, planning a party for my son was often stressful. I wanted everything what with the limited time I had between work and being OC — to be just right: fun, memorable, and extraordinary. When we founded Eurêka! Theme Parties we saw the need specially for working parents such as myself for an event organizer that can handle all the little details of a well planned affair be it a birthday party, corporate affair, over-the-hill or retirement party," said Belmonte.

"That, plus our genuine love of kids, and a need to bring fantastic ideas into reality, pushed us to make life easy for those who want to celebrate their loved ones’ birthday but neither had the time nor the resources to do it," said Yebes. "After handling so many parties for kids you get a sense of how much work is put in to it. It takes certain kinds of people to handle children effectively — something we are armed with since we love kids."

Eurêka! Theme Parties is unique in the sense that it is at the forefront of eliminating events where guests sit around watching mascots and clowns. "Our parties focus on a pleasant mix of personalized games and art attacks that capture the interest of the young and old alike", Belmonte added. "Also, Eurêka! involves not only the kids in our games and activities," said Yebes. "Even the adults and nanny’s are part of the fun because going to a party shouldn’t just be about sitting around and doing nothing. A Eurêka! party is about having fun with everyone!"

"One thing to note, as well about Eurêka!, is our staff," Belmonte averred. "Part of our staff is our kids. My son, for example handles our digital pictures, stuff we use on our website. On a few occasions clients of ours even commissioned him to take their pics during the affair. Two nieces of mine, ages 6 and 9 handle registration as well as some of the activities." "We’ve found that teaching the kids the value of fun as well as work is very important," said Yebes. "It’s unusual to be in a situation where fun is work and work is fun. That’s something we want the kids to learn at an early age."

"The rest of our staff are out-of-school college kids or undergraduates. We’ve found that when you empower people to make use of their talents, there’s very little that can bring them down. They enjoy the work, and still get the sense of accomplishment and training that they can use in future endeavors," Belmonte added.

"Our set-ups are fantastic!" shared Yebes. "We’ve spent countless hours meeting with the right people, sourcing out the right props and materials to transform ballrooms, function rooms, backyards and garages into fantastic fantasy lands."

"For example, a regular garden is transformed into a fairy land as butterflies, forest drums and exotic chimes enchant those who have a taste for coming to a place not unlike Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream in Eurêka!’s Stardust Theme. The medieval world comes into existence as princes and princesses join a masquerade where a royal feast and crowning ceremony brings a sense of mythic ritual in Eurêka!’s Royal Gala theme," Belmonte explained. Yebes pointed out that "Eurêka!’s Harry Potter theme is a crowd favorite as the Great Hall of Hogwarts is transformed with flying brooms, gargoyles and majestic crests. Eurêka!’s Pirate theme makes for ruckus fun as nets, life buoys and masts complete a naval scene, and finally, Eurêka!’s Luau theme is accentuated with tiki lamps, bongo drums and bamboo twirls." "All in all," Yebes added, "we’ve had fun building up original set-ups that are quite impressive."

"The reason it’s a one-stop-shop is because after you make a call, the entire theme with all its inclusions like themed hostesses, invites, set-up (backdrops and hole-in-the-wall), cake, loot-bags and give-away together with kiddie tables and chairs with theme centerpieces, giant card and bubble machines—are at your disposal," said Belmonte. "There are very few things we can’t provide for you as we’ve tied up with caterers, photographers and florists. We try our best to fulfill the requirements of even the most discriminating of clients — at prices that don’t go through the roof."
