“It is our collective and individual responsibility to preserve and tend the world in which we live.” — Dalai Lama
The board of directors, officers and members of the Philippines-Russia Friendship Society recently held the 95th birthday asalto for their beloved past president Narda Camacho.
Known for her ardent and tireless advocacy for environmental issues, Narda is the president of the Metro Manila Linis-Ganda, which started as a garbage segregation and recycling initiative that now has some 580 organized junk shops in 17 cities and towns in Metro Manila. Established in 1983 in San Juan, the organization initially focused on collecting and buying paper and plastic scraps, bottles, cans and metals from households.
Narda’s birthday celebration, held at the Muebles Italiano Showroom in Makati City, was graciously hosted by Muebles Italiano owner Noel Gonzales and his wife Eileen.
Many happy returns, dear Narda!
