MANILA, Philippines – There is undeniable beauty in opening one’s heart to the endless possibilities that the universe has to offer. It is even more beautiful when, with an open heart, one is able to pursue one’s life purpose and uplift the lives of others at the same.
Twenty-nine-year-old Leah del Rosario found her calling to help others through the arts. In 2012, she started Husay Talents, a non-government organization that is composed of performance art advocates who “hope to inspire an individual or a community to use their talents to uplift lives.” This organization offers talent management, life coaching and financial literacy to underprivileged youth so they can combine their talents and love for the arts with responsibility and self-sustainability.
It was Leah’s love for the performing arts and the heart for helping the less fortunate that gave birth to the idea of putting up Husay Talents. And it was her experience working at the offices of Senators Francis Pangilinan and Bam Aquino — where she did graphic design, new media and special projects — that further exposed Leah to different social work organizations for the youth.
“They (Pangilinan and Aquino) were advocates for the youth. I was exposed to youth organizations that inspired me more to continue with my advocacy,” shares Leah, a Fine Arts graduate at the University of Santo Tomas.
“It is easy to send out a message and connect to people through the arts. It is not intimidating for me. Like in dancing, it is easy to capture the attention of whoever you want to reach and send a message to. In this, I am fueled by the different people I meet — their energy, their opinions, meaningful conversations with them. I get more inspired by this,” she says.
Leah’s positivity and determination create a ripple effect that allows Husay Talents to succeed in its mission. She is the type to see good in the worst situations.
“Don’t give up and just settle on being sad. When unfortunate things happen, it means your story is not yet done so don’t give up. Like with what Husay has become, I am proud that it is now connecting more to people despite a lot of challenges. Seeing everything fall into place gives me confidence that I am doing something right because things come out like I want them to,” Leah notes.
With her work in graphic design while she is running Husay Talents, Leah does not forget to take care of herself. Dancing maybe one of her forms of creative expression, it also serves as her form of exercise. She goes to the gym to keep up with the physical demands of her job though she says she works out not just to have a healthy body but to also have a healthy mind.
With her day-to-day activities, Leah makes sure she is at her best. She uses makeup to highlight her best features. Different shades of matte lipstick are her current favorites, like the EB Advance Supreme Lipstick in Kylie shade. This lipstick line introduces its newest shades – four flattering nude shades in matte and crème finish.
She’s also a fan of simple eye makeup. She highlights her eyes with a simple eyeliner like EB Advance HD Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner. This eyeliner has a pointed brush applicator that ensures a perfect line to give the eyes’ depth and drama while its waterproof capacity makes it long-lasting. This comes in a package with free eyeliner pencils ideally used to emphasize the lower lash lines.
And also, one of Leah’s beauty must-haves is a foundation to conceal minor skin imperfections. The EB Advance Studio Finish Stick Foundation is a perfect BFF for this situation. This cream-based foundation has a buildable coverage that conceals blemishes, evens out skin texture and leaves a matte finish on the skin. It comes in Crème, Miel, and Beige shades that are also infused with moisturizers to keep the face hydrated and glowing. *
