Breaking ground
It was in 2013 when Paris Miki first considered expanding in the Philippines. After typhoon Yolanda, the company volunteers took part in rehabilitation efforts in Tacloban, offering free optical service and eyewear to survivors.
Seeing how the generosity and hospitality of the Filipino resonated with their own, Paris Miki was encouraged to further nurture a relationship with Filipinos. In the following months, Paris Miki decided to make a new home in the Philippines.
The heritage of Paris Miki
When Yoshio Tane, a Japanese entrepreneur, first established Paris Miki, then known as Seikakudo Tokeiten, in 1930, he had a clear vision for his company, which was to provide the best optical care and service in the world.
Originally, Seikakudo Tokeiten sold and repaired eyewear, watches and precious metals in Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture. In 1960, it was later renamed to Miki Optical Inc., when Tane decided to focus exclusively on eyewear retailing.
In 1973, the first overseas subsidiary of the company was established in Rue de L’Opéra in Paris, paving the way for Paris Miki’s presence in key cities in Europe, Asia and the US.
Now, 85 years later, Paris Miki has become synonymous with premium Japanese luxury and excellent customer service. This, in thanks, to its founder’s commitment to putting its clients’ needs first.
“The essence of the company is to enable people who have trouble seeing and our mission is to resolve each customer’s difficulties and problems, and to provide services that exceed our customers’ expectations,” says Hiroshi Tane, Yoshio Tane’s son and now president of Paris Miki Holdings Inc.
