Sealed with a kiss
MANILA, Philippines - We all know her as the elegant and beautiful Isabel Roces.
Recently, she tied the knot and is now Mrs. Isabel Trebol.
As for me (and I’m sure many would agree), Isabel has always looked like Angelina Jolie! Those full, trademark lips say it all without uttering a single word.
When it comes to weddings, now that you’ve nabbed Mr. Right, how do you choose the right lipstick to seal the deal?
Here are some lipstick guidelines for you brides-to-be:
Read Thy Lips
Just as we have a skin type, so do your lips.
Do you tend to have dry, chapped lips? Do you tend to “eat” your lipstick? Are you acidic? Is your natural lip color two-toned (darker upper lip and lighter lower lip)?
Consider these factors so you know which formulation and shade to use. Dry skin calls for moisturizing formulas while matte, long-staying ones are best for lipstick “eaters.”
Light pinkish-nude or peach-nude shades are the safest bets for acidic skin so they darken gradually yet naturally-looking.
Then opaque, full-coverage lippies are best for two-toned lips while those blessed with nearly perfect lips like Isabel, can use sheer formulas that leave the right amount of color for a natural, flattering finish.
Sheer Romance
If there’s one thing worse than lettuce in between your teeth, it’s lipstick smudges all over your mouth from the endless smooches on your wedding day.
Sheer formulas leave more of a vibrant color wash that looks great even when they’ve been rubbed off from kissing.
Blind Beauty
Retouch your lippies like a pro without a mirror! Sheer formulas are the most forgiving when your lipstick bleeds so re-application in a flash is a breeze!
Oh, Bite Me!
Ladies, know this: only other ladies will appreciate your pristine lipstick application. Men, realistically, aren’t the biggest fans of it. For them, kissing lips with heavy lipstick is sticky, smells off and not exactly a turn on.
Not to worry because there are brands that help you meet your man in the middle! Take for example, the whole Tory Burch Lip Color Collection is infused with cassis, grapefruit and mandarin.
Did I mention that grapefruit is said to be similar to the scent as female pheromones? This is the hormone released by humans that, in a nutshell, triggers sexual attraction and chemistry.
And who doesn’t want a smack of that?
