Another fascinating exhibit had the party guests of Jun Jun Ablaza in awe at the brilliant interior decorator’s recent birthday celebration at the Main Lounge of the Manila Polo Club.
Blessed with an eye for dramatic and decorative flair and highly stylized design, Jun Jun shares his creative vision every year with an exhibit held on his birth month. This time, it was “AblazaAblaze 2014: Dining with the Gods” featuring three-dimensional dining-by-design installations inspired by portraits of seven human gods. The seven portraits were captured by international photographer Filbert Kung and styled by Roko Arceo. A special catalogue of the many events adorned by Jun Jun was compiled in collaboration with Tedrick Yau and Trixie Orobia, with the assistance of Michele Sison and Dodie Garcia.
Jun Jun was joined at the party by his supportive parents Zambia Consul Luis Ablaza and Guatemala Consul Mellie Ablaza, and loving siblings Marc Thomas Ablaza and Czarina Ablaza-Syquia.
Guests marveled at the extraordinary dining environments that ranged from lavish and dramatic, to outrageous and whimsical. The seven dining installations were inspired by the “bliss of lightness, the mysteries of darkness, the calmness of air, the beauty of earth, the magnificence of ice, the strength of fire and the spirit of water” — all unique and eye-catching.
Thank you, Jun Jun, for giving us a glimpse of how it would look dining with the gods. You truly have the gift!
