Here comes BDG!

UPTOWN DOWNTOWN - Joanne Zapanta-Andrada - The Philippine Star

The Bridal Designers Group-Philippines (BDG), headed by president Dennis Martin and vice president Luis “Chito” De los Santos, promises to reinvigorate the wedding industry with various activities and shows featuring the organization’s creations. The BDG is formerly known as the Fashion by the Wedding Designers of the Philippines (FWDP). Uptown/Downtown presents the designers’ latest gowns.

Jing Chua

An Accounting graduate from San Beda College, Jing Chua has been designing for three decades and is very popular and well loved by his Chinese clients. His fashion ideas are always fresh, updated and yet the look is undeniably Filipino. His ternos, for example, are immaculately constructed and meticulously crafted. Chua is the former president of Fashion Designers Association of the Philippines and now the president and chairman of the board of Congregacion del Santisimo Nombre Jesus.

Here, Chua designed a pouf skirt in layers of matte Sushimi tulle topped with a Champagne-colored lace bustier with lace appliqué and overlaying beads that gives a three-dimensional effect on the romantic side of couture.

Luis “Chito” De los Santos

Seasoned performance artist and designer Luis “Chito” de los Santos is known for his ultra-feminine creations. De los Santos is a graduate of the prestigious Slim’s Fashion Design School and worked in Japan for 15 years.

Dennis Martin

The flamboyance of Bob Mackie, the intricacy of Aureo Alonzo and the classiness and style of Carolina Herrera and Valentino — all these influences have been imbibed by Dennis Martin in his creations. Martin is a graduate of BS Commerce at the De La Salle University.

Martin presents a princess-cut, empire-cut, off-shoulder ecru gown accentuated with a ruching top adorned with paisley beadwork and floral lace cascading downward from the empire-line.
