American author and lawyer Christian Nestell Bovee once wrote that “Next to God, we are indebted to women, first for life itself, and then for making it worth having.” We couldn’t agree more. This is why, at your columnist’s birthday celebration at the Mayuree Ballroom (the new name for Dusit Thani Manila’s grand ballroom), we staged an extraordinary fashion show with models who are as beautiful and graceful as the professionals who walk the runway.
It was truly a pleasant surprise for me when my grandchildren opened the show on the catwalk, followed by accomplished parents with their young children in tow and then by distinguished ladies in their finery.
Music was heard throughout the night courtesy of The New Minstrels Divos, new young talents Chad Angeles and Vanya Castor and the Bernie Pasamba String Quartet, who played all my favorites.
Our heartfelt gratitude to Dusit Thani Manila, our home for many a birthday party, Philippine Hotelier’s Inc. vice chairman and president Evelyn Singson, Dusit Thani Manila general manager Alex Willats, and our gracious sponsors Titania Wines, Rustan’s L’Occitane, Aficionado, Beabi, Laneige and Van Laack for making my birthday, once again, a most memorable one for me and my guests.
See you all next year!
