The Filipino woman has long been a symbol of strength in society. For decades we have witnessed the achievements of exemplary females in various industries and advocacies.
This year, the Zonta Club of Makati and Environs, one of 52 Zonta clubs in the Philippines from Aparri to Zamboanga, is launching a search for eight Outstanding Women in the following categories: Public Affairs, Business, Science and Technology, Sports, Arts, Culture and Heritage, Social Services, Culinary Arts, and Media. The search is co-sponsored by Security Bank.
The 8 Bravo Women Awards was created to celebrate and honor women, who demonstrate an unwavering commitment to leadership and service, empowering themselves and others toward the country’s economic and social progress.
The Awards will focus on the important role of women in promoting diversity, rendering service and demonstrating leadership for nation-building. It aims to recognize inspiring women, to honor the women who have made a difference in other people’s lives, to highlight the success of great women leaders, and to inspire more women leaders. All nominees will undergo vetting by a screening committee composed of Zonta members and officers of Security Bank. Selection proper will be undertaken by a group of judges who have achieved recognition in various disciplines of industry and advocacy. Those eligible to be nominated for the 8 Bravo Women Awards would have to a.) be a Filipino citizen; b.) be involved in her profession/advocacy for at least 36 months as of July 2014; c.) be not a Zonta member or Security Bank employee; d.) have steered a project beyond the call of duty in order to make a positive contribution to society (optional; e.) have spearheaded and sustained the above-mentioned project (optional); f.) be an exemplification of good moral character throughout the entire span of her career/advocacy involvement.
Each nominee who has passed the vetting process will undergo a 30-minute interview with the panel of judges. Nominees will be judged on their vision and leadership, social impact, innovation, commitment to equity (dedication to transparency across societal barriers) and their standing as a role model figure of influence through activities that significantly enhance the lives of people in the target communities.
A certificate of recognition together with a sculpture by a renowned artist that will serve as a trophy will be awarded to the chosen women. Awards will be announced on March 2015.
