MANILA, Philippines - A beautiful and dramatic story will unfold at the Cultural Center of the Philippines as Philippine Ballet Theatre (PBT) presents Carmen. The ballet production tells about the story of Carmen, a Spanish gypsy who has the men of the town at her fingertips. Carmen will be staged at the Main Theater on July 5, Saturday, 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.
The full-length ballet is set against the backdrop of Sevilla, to the exciting music of George Bizet. The cast is led by PBT’s homegrown performing artists to the all new choreography of artistic director Ronilo Jaynario. Carmen will be played by Joanna Galeste and Don Jose by Peter San Juan at the matinee performance, while Bianca Trocino and Lemuel Capa will take the leads during the evening performance. Micaela will be played by Lobreza Pimentel while Zuniga will be danced by Mark Pineda. Escamillo, the bullfighter, will be played by Ian Ocampo.
