Haute Men
A new breed of male models is going to take the local fashion landscape by storm. Rising into the scene is the first all-male model agency in the country — A. Gordon. With a roster of models who have extensively worked in Europe, the US and Japan, the new establishment aims to bring these professionals into Asia.
These international models have taken part in renowned global designer shows, top glossies and prestigious campaigns all over the world. Challenged by a growing competitive market in the region, the new agency raises the standard with global competence in the beauty business of commerce.
Cousins Agnes Desiderio and Glenn Gatdula are the brains behind A. Gordon and both are armed with extensive management experience to get this aspirational endeavor through. Gatdula, who currently owns RAW modeling agency (now A. Gordon) in the US, used to work with one of the globally recognized and prestigious agencies in the industry — Click.
From male mannequins, we move to menswear. Astute designer Joey Samson recently presented a 24-piece collection (16 for women and eight for men) entitled Let’s Play Ball at the Salon 2014 showcase held at the Raffles and Fairmont Hotels in Makati City recently.
The designer’s outstanding interpretation of trendsetting ideas displays a fusion of athleticism, loungewear and his trademark tailoring. Seamless brilliance in distinctive creations defines Samson’s masterful artistry in modern menswear as he mixes beautiful fabrics and prints. Silhouettes take a contemporary twist with ingenious and well-thought-of boxy and unexpected proportions in amazing textures.
The forward-thinking approach to menswear is going back to basics but with an ingenious approach through creative explorations. Samson’s impressive artistry once again is an inspirational design perspective for young designers and raises local standards with aplomb.
Men and fashion are sizzling this season. Manila welcomes the haute as it adds excitement in the local industry. Definitely something to look forward to as it opens more doors in the world of Philippine fashion.
