UPTOWN DOWNTOWN - Joanne Zapanta-Andrada - The Philippine Star

Designer Pablo Cabahug has steadily been making a name for himself with his clean lines and thoughtful material choices. Now head designer of Myth in Greenbelt 5, Cabahug initially worked as a fashion assistant for director Jackie Aquino for 10 years before apprenticing for senior fashion designer Randy Ortiz in 2005.

In 2010, he joined a fashion competition sponsored by Look Magazine and The British Council of the Philippines. It was upon winning the “Look of Style” prize that he was sent to Central Saint Martins in London to take a short course in Fashion Design and Marketing. Aquino and Ortiz have since remained Cabahug’s great friends and mentors.

Cabahug’s style is one of classical, timeless pieces. Like his style icons, Audrey Hepburn, Jackie Kennedy, Nicole Kidman and Princess Diana, Cabahug aims for femininity without relinquishing a sense of power and sexiness. He is partial to chiffons, jerseys, wools and satins and looks to Tom Ford, Randy Ortiz, Alexander McQueen, Emanuel Ungaro and Azzedine Alaia as great influences in the field.

“I would like to tell women not to be afraid to experiment in choosing clothes. Get silhouettes that will hide their flaws and accentuate their assets. Invest clothes that have classic silhouettes and never over accessorize!” shares Cabahug.
