Till we meet again

A farewell party in honor of outgoing British Ambassador Stephen Lillie and his wife Denise, and UK Trade & Investment director Derek Page and his wife Merete was held at the Garden Ballroom of EDSA Shangri-La Manila.

The dinner was hosted by Fil-Anglo Management and Promotional Consultants’ Trina Davies as her way of thanking the two British gentlemen for recommending her to the Foreign Commonwealth Office where she was awarded as an officer of the Order of the British Empire under the Civil Category.

Needless to say, the send-off party at the EDSA Shangri-La was made unforgettable by the hotel’s excellent cuisine and superb service under the efficient team of general manager Patrick Schaub, communications director Ouie Badelles and communications manager Claire Hernandez.

Seen among the VIP guests were Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Gov. Amando Tetangco Jr., deputy governor Diwa Guinigundo and Monetary Board member Peter Favila and Chinatrust-Philippines Commercial Bank Corp. vice chairman Bill Go.

The readers of your Thursday column London Eye here in The Philippine Star will surely miss you, Stephen, and so will we.

For the love of San Pablo

The prestigious Sin Nombre Club de Laguna Foundation Inc. of San Pablo City and Laguna residents celebrated the foundation’s 82nd anniversary with a formal dinner and ballroom dancing at Manila Hotel’s Fiesta Pavillion. The affair was organized by the club’s  gentleman president Gerard “Boyet” Magcase and lady president Ma. Rosario “Rosie” de Gorostiza-Boehringer.

A social-civic group composed of prominent and accomplished San Pableños like Ado Escudero, the Sin Nombre Club de Laguna has been undertaking projects such as scholarships, health programs, and livelihood programs over the years.

A highlight of the evening was the traditional rigodon de honor in honor of the club muse Cristina Erika de Gorostiza Banocnoc who was escorted by Aurel de Gorostiza-Boehringer. The rigodon de honor was composed of 22 pairs of distinguished Laguna personalities.

The fund-raising event was held to finance activities that would help uplift the living conditions of the people in the province. The club also aims to preserve the cultural heritage that has been handed down through generations by their forefathers.

More power to the club and its officers!
