MANILA, Philippines - At exactly 3:33 p.m. of Dec. 3, the Raffles and Fairmont Makati opened its doors with official ribbon-cutting ceremonies at each entrance. The launching of these two globally renowned luxury hotel brands is a significant milestone for the tourism industry as well as for the country.
Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez, Makati City Mayor Junjun Binay, Ayala Corp. chairman Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala, Ayala Land chairman Fernando Zobel de Ayala, Ayala Land president Antonino Aquino and Raffles and Fairmont Makati managing director Tom Meyer all cut the ceremonial ribbon at the Fairmont Makati entrance with “host” Fairmont Hotels and Resorts executive vice president David Roberts and SVP for human resources Carolyn Clark. They then proceeded to the Raffles entrance at the opposite side of the building to cut the ribbon with “host” Raffles Hotels and Resorts president John Johnston.
A striking 30-floor tower at the center of Ayala Land’s prestigious new development is home to the 32 all-suite Raffles Makati, 280-room Fairmont Makati and 237 Raffles Residences. All restaurants in the complex are open to guests from both hotels. These are: Spectrum, an all-day dining restaurant; pastry boutique Café Macaron; the iconic Long Bar as well as two lounges. Other recreational facilities include the Willow Stream Spa, Fitness Centre and two outdoor swimming pools.
