“Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes.Art is knowing which ones to keep.” – Scott Adams
Besides Bali and the Rafflesia arnoldii (the world’s largest individual flower), Indonesia is also world-famous for its batik. In a welcome departure from its traditional use as a kebaya, the Indonesian batik as a high-end luxury garment made heads turn at a fashion show and cultural night hosted by Indonesian Ambassador Yohanes Kristiarto Legowo and his beautiful wife Caecilia.
At the Rizal Ballroom of the Makati Shangri-La, the charming and well-loved couple welcomed VIP guests led by Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario, former Chief Justice Artemio Panganiban, and a host of ambassadors such as Hirubalan VP of Singapore, Nawalage Bennet Cooray of Sri Lanka and Nguyen Vu Tu of Vietnam.
A fusion of dances from the different regions in Indonesia by lively dancers clad in colorful costumes also gave the audience an insight of the rich cultural heritage of Indonesia. It was an educational and most enjoyable evening as only the Legowo couple can present.
To my good friend Kris and Caecilia — Bravo!
