Discover the Lion City

- The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Marina Bay Cruise Center in Singapore is home to the Voyager of the Seas and is the embarkation dock closest to the Philippines (Note: The three-hour trip from Manila to Singapore on Singapore Airlines is an easy, stress-free flight.). If you’ve booked the Voyager of the Seas for a week-long cruise, why not also allot a day or two before your cruise to discover Asia’s “biggest little city.”

Aside from shopping along the renowned Orchard Road, here are a few tips on places to visit in Singapore:

1. Gardens by the Bay — Spanning over 100 hectares and featuring more than a quarter million rare plants from all over the world, the massive Gardens by the Bay stands to be one of the most spectacular conservation projects in Asia.

2. iFly Singapore — Experience the thrill of flight at the world’s first largest themed wind tunnel for indoor sky diving, iFly Singapore. Located in Sentosa and measuring 16.5 feet wide and 56.5 feet tall, the wind tunnel gives you an unparalleled view of the South China Sea and Siloto Beach.

3. Sky Dining Experience at the Singapore Flyer — Standing 165 meters tall, the Singapore Flyer allows guests to enjoy the sights of the city within a chic and spacious capsule.

4. LeVel33 — Make the most of your night by savoring the brews from the world’s highest urban craft-brewery, LeVel33, located at the penthouse of the Marina Bay Financial Centre.

5. My Humble House — First opened in 2002, the multi-awarded My Humble House at the Esplanade perfects the “art of dining” with its exceptional style and artistic presentation.

6. The White Rabbit — Housed in a beautifully-restored chapel located in Dempsey, Singapore, The White Rabbit serves up an adventure of flavors, impeccable five-star dishes without the stuffiness of a fine-dining restaurant.

7. ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands — Entice the mind with a walk through the lotus-inspired architectural beauty that is the ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands.

8. Maritime Experiential Museum & Aquarium — Follow the fascinating voyages of Admiral Zheng He as he blazes new trails along the Maritime Silk Route located near Universal Studios Singapore.

9. Park Regis Hotel — Overlooking the quiet Singapore River and at the heart of the vibrant city, the hotel is accessible to the MRT and many of Singapore’s key attractions such as Clarke Quay, Boat Quay and Chinatown.
