South border

MANILA, Philippines - Naf Naf, the internationally famous fashion house specializing in prêt-à-porter, takes us this season to the wonderful tropics utilizing two famously “southern” icons — Palm Springs and Frida Kahlo.

Frida Kahlo, Mexico’s First Lady of Art, has always fascinated collectors and fashionistas alike with her bold yet seemingly innocent self-portraits. Her works are deep, unforgettable and timeless. In keeping up with these qualities, Naf Naf mixed muted tones of maroon and blue with flamboyant hues of tangerine and magenta to illustrate the union of seriousness and whimsy of Kahlo’s work. The line also makes use of handmade embroidery, natural cotton voile, linen and printed silk with floral patterns  reminiscent of Kahlo’s intense yet free-spirited nature.

The Palm Spring collection, on the other hand, trades tequila for vodka and yet maintains its Bohemian feel. Fluid jumpsuits and maxi dresses in bold prints are combined with belt accessories for an eclectic feel. Like the Frida collection, Naf Naf combines diverse palettes such as flamingo pink mixed with neutral beiges and whites.

The brand has always been known for its stylish, timeless and easy-to-wear clothes and accessories. The Naf Naf brand was created in 1978 by brothers Gerard and Patrick Pariente and has since made headlines in Manila as a go-to line for modern yet feminine garment, accessories and footwear. In 1984, Cinderella Dresses introduced the Paris brand to the Philippines and has succeeded in making Naf Naf popular among the 18- to 30-year-old demographics.
