“The greatest thoughts come from the heart.” — Vauvenargues
Every year, the traditional Soiree Beaujolais celebration only gets bigger, better and glitzier with more wine lovers in attendance. The Queen City of the South once again ushered in this grand wine festival with the recently held Soiree Beaujolais 2011 at the five-star Marco Polo Plaza Cebu (MPPC). Prominent personalities from Manila, Cebu and other parts of the world gathered at the hotel’s opulent Grand Ballroom to take part in this most awaited social event of the year.
The revelry started with the ceremonial uncorking of the Le Beaujolais Nouveau led by dynamic MPPC GM Hans Hauri, Le Club founding president Philip Gauthier and Honorary Consul of France to the Visayas Michel Lhuillier. With the theme, “Paris la Nuit,” the affair was made colorful with the special performance of the CanCan Girls of Le Centre des Ateliers de Danse de Figeac who flew in from Paris just for the occasion. Guests were truly captivated watching the gorgeous ladies swirl in traditional colorful costumes while dancing a la Moulin Rouge. The evening also had everyone enjoying the abundant supply of wines, wide range of French cuisine and desserts, and musical entertainment from the multi-awarded Queen of Jazz, Verni Varga and the excellent Renaissance Band. Hosted by yours truly, the prestigious event capped off with a raffle of superb prizes including a trip to Paris via Qatar Airways!
Congratulations to the Marco Polo Plaza Cebu for another outstanding and amazing celebration! See you next year!
