Flowers have long been a theme of many designers. Germany-based Filipina designer Joyce Pilarsky particularly enjoys floral patterns in her dresses as they best exemplify her own ideals: elegance, youth and femininity. Starting out as a jewelry craftsman, Pilarsky quickly widened her range to ladies couture. She explains, “It just made perfect sense. I was making body adornments out of semi-precious stones to go with the clothes of other designers. It dawned on me that I need not go halfway by making accessories for another person’s attire. I had a clear vision of what I wanted and so I took a leap of faith and started creating my own line.”
Pilarsky adds that she will be putting up a shop in Makati next year. She intends her first collection to focus on the dress. “I have always been a ‘girly-girl’ and so it was natural for me to go for the ultimate ladies’ apparel the dress. My floral theme runs the gamut of understated to ‘pretty-in-pink’ out there! I used satin and chiffon but also worked on stretch material. These outfits will work perfectly for the many cocktails and dinner parties that the Christmas season brings,” she says.
