Snap happy shots on the Singapore Airlines A380

MANILA, Philippines - Flying takes on a whole new meaning onboard Singapore Airlines’ biggest and most luxurious aircraft, the A380. You can see it in the winning smiles of these passengers, winners of SIA and People Asia’s recently concluded “My Picture-Perfect Moment with SIA’s A380” photo contest. 

 It’s written on their faces — the joy and satisfaction upon experiencing first-class service, spacious interiors, delectable food, superb inflight entertainment from KrisWorld and other exceptional amenities only from Singapore Airlines.

 Frequent Business Class flyer Ramiro Cruz won the grand prize for his candid A380 moment with the family en route to Sydney. The winning entry features his daughter, 11-year-old Bianca, utterly delighted playing games on KrisWorld and totally oblivious of the long flight. Second place went to May Yao for her amazing underwater snapshot in Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.  Nabbing third place is wedding gown designer Merlene Marcelo. Her winning photo shows her in the cabin aisle jumping with glee after a fantastic A380 experience.

Ramiro Morales Cruz, a PPS Club member, won first prize for this picture. He won a roundtrip Economy class ticket to Zurich, Parish or London on the A380 (equivalent to 70,000 Krisflyer miles). Date of travel taken on the SIA A380 is April 25, 2011.

 Winners get to relive their A380 experience as SIA flies them to its key destinations. The first prize is a roundtrip ticket to Zurich. Second prize is a roundtrip ticket to Sydney. And third prize is a roundtrip ticket to Hong Kong. A380 also flies to Tokyo, Paris, London, Melbourne and Los Angeles. 

 SIA and People Asia also awarded a special prize to Maria Geraldine Nugraha for her adorably unique snapshot of her son, baby Benjamin, sleeping soundly in an onboard bassinet. She was impressed by SIA A380’s outstanding attention to detail and very hospitable crew. She says they made her family’s flight to London not just bearable, but a dream.      

 According to SIA marketing communications and services manager Rita Dy, the photographs submitted to the contest don’t only reveal happy memories of the passenger but they also show the kind of service passengers experience onboard the Singapore Airlines. Their pictures reflect the level of dedication and excellence SIA puts into each aircraft and each flight. “This photo contest brings the A380 experience closer to our passengers. In their photos and during the awarding, they expressed their excitement and full satisfaction. That makes us very happy and it’s all we can ask for,” said Dy.

May Yao won second prize for this picture. She won a roundtrip Economy class ticket to Sydney or Melbourne on the A380 (equivalent to 55,000 Krisflyer miles). Date of travel: April 10, 2011.
