Run for your lives!

MANILA, Philippines - The serious runners and marathon hobbyists have found that a good pair of running shoes is as important as the runner’s desire to be fit and healthy.

As one of the more visible brands in the running circuit the past so many months, Skechers was highly visible in the Women’s Health Athena Run, Takbo.ph Night Run and most recently, the Earth Day Run of the National Geographic Channel.

In all three events, runners experienced firsthand the Skechers Shape-ups Technology behind the Skechers Resistance Runner (SRR) — the Kinetic Return System and the Kinetic Wedge. The serious runners and the weekend warriors were allowed to fit a pair and test it on the Nordic Track treadmill provided for by Chris Sports and were pleasantly surprised with the performance of the shoes.

Katrina Ong, Skechers marketing communications officer, said, “Skechers, a brand known worldwide for being a style-right and fashionable footwear brand for men and women, is now making a mark in the fitness and performance footwear category through the Skechers Shape-ups technology that has received worldwide success for its fitness line of footwear, led by the Skechers Resistance Runner.”

She added: “The SRR experience is like riding or driving a luxury car — no matter how fast you go, no matter how hard you push, the runner stays comfortable because the Shape-ups Technology allows for effortless performance especially for long distances,” Ong furthers.

The SRR was billed as the “Newest and most promising innovation in shoe technology in the last 30 years” by Robert Forster, a renowned physical therapist to Olympic medalists and the NBA.

The benefits of the SRR come together to create a more fluid stride that emulates a natural running state that helps reduce injuries and enhance performance:

Resistance — Designed as a resistance training workout, the SRR’s high-viscosity kinetic wedge helps absorb more energy, forcing the wearer to elevate muscle activity with every step.

Absorption — The soft Kinetic wedge helps absorb impact by dispensing energy throughout the foot, helping to relieve joint and back pressure for a more comfortable stride.

Balance — Slight but constant shifts in weight help tighten core muscles and intensify the workout while giving the body a new sense of balance.

Range of Motion — A curved rocker bottom smoothly carries one stride to the next, rolling through each motion and helping wearers run in a more natural state.

Expect to see more of the Skechers Fitness Group in running events as it strives to bring the revolutionary technology to all the Filipino fitness enthusiasts and runners.
