Sheila Romero: Blessed for life

-

MANILA, Philippines - Her soft, alabaster skin is just the surface of the beautiful soul that resides inside her. Sheila Romero is constantly blessed because she, too, is a blessing to others.

“Every day, even in my small way, I would like to touch someone’s life,” says Sheila, CEO of The Oracle Hotel and Residences, the first and only boutique hotel along Katipunan in Quezon City.

“I am blessed because the Lord has showed me the right path I should take to be able to fulfill His will. I am blessed to know my purpose in life... to be a wife, a mother to four beautiful children and a child of God,” she says in her soft voice.

Her advocacy now centers on propagating devotion to Mama Mary, St. Rita and Fr. Pio “who have helped me in my daily struggle as a child of God.”

Sheila and husband Mikee (they have been married for 19 years) are in the process of formalizing their foundation to equip mothers and children with better access to livelihood and education. They, too, are very passionate about helping communities put up their churches, one of which is the Luminous Cross Sanctuary in Agdangan in the province of Quezon.

Sheila’s strong devotion is anchored on the beautiful childhood she experienced at home. He parents equipped her with a solid faith foundation when they started to bring her to Baclaran church when Sheila was only in Grade 3.

Sheila’s parents also taught her and her five other siblings the value of education and hard work, aside from their strong Catholic faith. Thus, she went on to become a consistent outstanding student of St. Theresa’s College. She graduated cum laude with a double major — BS Applied Economics and BS in Management of Financial Institutions — at the De La Salle University.

Sheila is not averse to hard work. She put up before her own catering business and her own restaurant Azurro Bistro and Wine Bar in Makati.

Her passion for collecting paintings is something she shares with her husband Mikee. The couple has the most extensive private collection of Amorsolo paintings as they have more than 150 artworks of the master. Sheila admits that their art collection is centered mainly on the art pieces of Filipino National Artists and Old Masters. Among the contemporary paintings they collect are the works of Emmanuel Garribay, Mark Justiniani, Elmer Borlongan and Jon Santos.

“Every piece in our collection is for our four children, so that we can assure their future in any event that other things in our lives fail,” Sheila humbly says.

But failure is not about to enter the periphery of Sheila’s life. After all, she knows how to give back. She is blessed because she follows one important teaching of the Scripture: “To whom much is given, much is expected in return.”
