Women of Style and Substance
MANILA, Philippines - Wanting to crown women not only for their beauty but also for their accomplishments, People Asia magazine presented its “Women of Style & Substance 2010” on Sept. 7 at the Grand Atrium of the Shangri-La Plaza Mall. STAR columnist Tim Yap hosted the much-awaited event.
This year’s “Women of Style & Substance” included Valenzuela City third-term Councilor Shalani Soledad; multi-awarded broadcasters Mel Tiangco of GMA-7 and Ces Drilon of ABS-CBN; human rights lawyer and now Makati Rep. Abby Binay-Campos; dermatologist Aivee Aguilar-Teo, who has introduced breakthrough treatments and procedures to the Philippines; Dina Tantoco, the marketing communications manager of Rustan’s Commercial Corp.; chef Stephanie Zubiri, whose passion and flair for cooking is changing catering standards in Manila society; nurse-turned-automotive executive Jocelyn Buena, who embarks on another challenge as she crosses over to another brand; and Tessa Prieto-Valdes whose zest for life, work and charitable causes make her stand out as much as her fashion style does.
With cocktails to accompany the music of saxophonist Michael Young, the event was sponsored by Rustan’s, Jill & Luna by Jojie Lloren, HSBC, Edsa Shangri-La Manila, Thai Airways, Grendha, Laura Mercier, NARS, Stila, Shangri-La Plaza Mall, Samsung, Premiere Wines and Spirits and The Australian College of Hair and Design And Beauty.
