Scenic, cozy, neighborly!
MANILA, Philippines - Nestled on one of the highest points in Quezon City, on what originally was the clubhouse of Capitol Golf and Country Club is Green St. Community Mall. Residents of subdivisions located near the Capitol Golf and Country Club in Quezon City have welcomed its opening in their neighborhood because now they don’t have to go out of their way for their leisure and personal needs.
Since it opened in August 2008, Green St. Community Mall has been bustling with a growing number of patrons, setting a pace that ebbs and flows throughout the day. It not only offers a convenient lifestyle experience but also provide a focal social point for all kinds of people within the vicinity. On weekdays, it’s becoming the favorite lunchtime venue for students, office workers and executives. On weekends, it is fast becoming a gathering spot for families residing in homes just a drive away, not to mention golf club aficionados of Capitol Hills. “It’s a good place to come and chill,” said an Ateneo student who lives about 10 minutes from the mall. “The atmosphere is more cozy, intimate and neighborly than the usual malls, which may be bigger but more impersonal and business-like.”
But more than just a social convergence point is the great view. Located at the highest point of Quezon City, Green St. offers an awe-inspiring 360-degree scenic view of the metropolis, which includes the Montalban mountains, the hills of Antipolo, the Marikina valley, Pasig area, Ortigas skyline and other picturesque scenes as far as Makati and Manila. In fact, on a clear day, one can have a view of both Laguna Lake and Manila Bay.
Today, Green St. boasts of a wide mix of shops to cater to every need. At the lower ground level (basement), one can find a music school, the administrative office for the golf club and a slimming center. The ground level is occupied by well-known food service brands like Pancake House, Coffee Bean and Pho Hoa. The second level houses the First Gourmet Academy under Swiss chef Mats, Runway Salon and a dental and dermatological clinic for one’s personal and health care needs. On the third level, which is the roofdeck, is Dencio’s restaurant where customers are warmly greeted by its smiling staff and taken in by the awesome view.
For those who are into personal body care, there is BlueWater Day Spa, which is located in an adjacent underground building.
Because of the scenic surroundings, Green St. is now fast gaining a reputation as a venue for functions such as wedding parties, birthday or anniversary celebrations and even seminars or executive meetings.
All in all, there’s an array of services available at the mall that can attract a broad range market. “The mall is now developing a loyal customer base,” says Rico Raymundo of Fivesome Holdings Inc. “People get used to a certain mall as they get to know the layout of the mall. They have their favorite stores. It gets to be a real community center.”
To strengthen the community spirit, Green St. plans to launch mini events at the mall which will be community oriented. Most of the activities program will aim at promoting a more “community” oriented shopping destination and creativity, such as cooking class, art exhibitions, a makeup seminar, a Craft Bazaar and others. In addition to these, it plans to host a number of activities aimed at children. Raymundo adds, “We will always have in mind the creativeness of our events, and the fact that they cater to a wide variety of people. People like the fact that our mall is a place for people to come together and take part in activities aimed at enhancing community involvement.”
