Choices we make

A SPIRITED SOUL - Jeannie E. Javelosa -

At major points in our lives we make choices. Actually all of life we constantly make choices, from small ones to big ones. But large decisions often find their roots in the everyday small choices we make. We choose to be unhealthy, constantly reaching out for the salty chips, the soda and the desserts, which inevitably will show up in our body through weight or even disease. Some choose to marry for money and inevitably end up searching for love in a loveless marriage. Some choose to live lives with great stress because they get high at the adrenalin rush of conquest, and often end up dying early with heart attacks.

One thing I have noticed is that we decide from various points of who we are. Our decisions are colored by the state of our present situation, or the perspective from where we see our lives.

We can make a choice from the Heart — where our emotions are harnessed to give us this intuitive “knowing,” where our sentiments take lead in the final outcome of our stand. We can make a choice from our Head — where cold rational intelligence is used to study and understand the facts that help us arrive at the decision. Let’s just not get mixed up when the heart begins to talk back. We can make a choice from the stand of Morality — where we weigh the good versus the perceived bad, the higher energies versus the seeming lower. We think we are in control. We think we make the decisions of our life.

However, beyond all this, there is the Greater Force, a universal energy that makes the final decision. And while we, puny beings that we are, think that we are actually directing our lives by the clear choices we make, there is a force much greater than our own doing its own work. Our decisions are part of this great force. This force is everywhere. Deep in our subconscious is a force that embodies both the unconscious fears, angers, resentments as well as the hopes, dreams and aspirations of the collective. We are a mere drop in this collective ocean of thought. This is what it means that “we actually co-create our lives, our societies and our nations” as it unfolds. While we make individual decisions consciously in our everyday lives, there is a Greater Force that defines a destiny, a certain directional path for a society, and this force is often made stronger by the collective unconscious of the mass or the many.

We need to take a  look at this special time where we stand now in this decision-making point of our history. We are deciding at a major evolutionary point where Light and Darkness are at major conflict, where the Higher Energies seek to express itself through the filth and dirt of power, greed and all that the ego stands for. In this world of the material, where poverty is everywhere, where some people live lives like animals in the mud while other roll about in excesses of vanities, where Mother Earth is making her rape known to all. We need to seek an enlightened leader who can transform the material world through the empowerment of our people. To have the sheer hubris to lead us despite the catcalls and threats against him, to take the path less trodden so a shift can happen. We all know the country issues glaring at us at our faces. My question would be not about the personalities running to win the race, but to take it from the perspective of what our country needs today. Who amongst them can offer the best direction for our country at this point in time? Who would have the clear ability to hit the ground running to begin working on Day One? To go off to a “war” with the courage to harness the best of who we all are as a nation. To stand up and inspire. To bring us to a higher perspective to collaboratively work for the greater good. Let’s forget personalities. Let us look for vision.

Then let’s look deep inside us and gather insight first... from what part of who we are will we vote from? Heart? Head? Moral Stand? All these are of the Spirit. No perspective is wrong. And dare I say, no choice will be wrong. Then we vote and lift our vote as part of the Greater Force that will decide the new direction we all take.
