BEAUTY'S SECRETS - Chechel Joson -

It’s a few more days to Christmas. But in between now and the much-awaited celebration are endless parties that require us to be at our best. I suggest that you make sure to maximize the contents of your makeup kit so you don’t have to worry about keeping your look updated and fresh. You need to have the simple and basic tools that can take your look from day to night, easily. The easiest way to change a look from day to night lies in your lip color. The rule is simple: light colors for day wear and dramatic colors for the night. Of course, your makeup look can also depend on your mood, your attitude and the clothes that you will wear. Your entire “look” will not be complete without your makeup. When you maximize the products you have, you don’t waste time and money in looking great — every day.

For all skin tones, you must have eyeliners in black, brown and gray, black mascara, eyelash curler, creamy blush in soft pink and soft cardinal and eyebrow pencil and a sharpener in your makeup kit. I also recommend you have a nude lip pencil (like Max Factor gold lip pencil in cognac) in there, too.

Your basic “day look”:

1. Apply sunblock.

2. Curl your lashes.

3. (Optional) Apply a coat of mascara.

4. Brush your eyebrows with upward strokes and use a brow gel to keep your eyebrows in place.

5. Apply creamy blush on the cheek.

6. Lastly, your lipstick. Lipfinity for long wear; Colour Collections for moisture.

Your basic “night look”:

1. Add to your “day look.”

2. Remove the oil from your face with facial tissue or oil blotter.

3. Apply your foundation and/or powder.

4. For dramatic eyes, apply black kohl eyeliner.

5. Add another coat of mascara. Waterproof is best.

6. (Optional) You can wear same lip color you wore for your day makeup or you can do dramatic lips by using a nice rouge.

Important lip must-haves

For women with light/fair skin:

1. Lip pencil in cognac and fire.

2. Colour Collections lipstick in plush blush, hint of red and pink brandy English rose, orange shine.

3. Lipfinity Colours in essential pink, essential natural and Lipfinity Colour and gloss in crystal bronze, glowing sepia.

Your look:

1. For day wear: Follow the basic day look and use pink brandy or plush blush as your lip colors.

2. For the night: Follow the night look and use either the nude colors or go for a dramatic look with lip pencil in fire then apply hint of red.

For women with medium skin:

1. Lip pencil in cognac.

2. Colour Collections lipstick in bewitching coral, pink brandy and pearl orange and bewitching coral.

3. Lipfinity in essential red coral, essential natural.

Your look:

1. For day wear: Follow the basic “day look” and use cognac lip pencil first then finish with pink brandy.

2. For night wear: Follow the basic “night look” and use either essential natural or essential red coral or bewitching coral. Both looks are dramatic but using the bewitching coral or red coral is more daring.

Look and products for women with dark skin:

1. For day wear: Follow night wear and use these lip colors for day, hint of red by Colour Collections or bronzed glow. Make sure you have creamy blush in soft candy. The texture of your skin should not be oily so keep an oil blotter handy at all times.

2. For night wear: Intensify the colors both on eyes and lips. Use black eyeshadow in starstudded black and use black kohl eye pencil. Apply several coats of mascara. You can either use nude lip colors like touch of gold or sunbronze or pearl orange all by Colour Collections or add color to your lips like bewitching coral or night valley red or intensely red.

Play around and experiment with the colors I mentioned as your guide. Have fun! Experiment and let loose since it’s the holiday season. Be beautiful, be merry. Let us all celebrate in colors!
