In honor of the women of Asia

“The sun does not shine for a few trees and flowers, but for the wide world’s joy.” — Henry Ward Beecher

The 88-year-old Catholic Women’s Club (CWC) recently held its Annual Tea Party at the Manila Polo Club to pay tribute to the women of Asia for keeping well their respective countries’ culture and tradition in the 21st century. Chaired by Sol Tan Gatue, the time honored tradition of ceremonial tea pouring was performed by senior member Mercedes Gonzales, assisted by past presidents Chloe Romulo-Periquet and Carmen Mantecon with CWC president Nonie Basilio who announced the launching of the vocational scholarship program for 10 scholars.

Congratulations and Mabuhay to CWC and to president Nonie Basilio!

A birthday despedida

The lovable civic leader, entrepreneur and Friends for Cultural Concerns of the Philippines (FCCP) member Carrie Bautista recently celebrated her birthday in a week-long revelry organized by close friends at her posh residence in Forbes Park. A wife to Ed Bautista, our celebrator is a busy bee with all her civic and social work. Carrie is now busy packing her bags as she will soon leave for Jakarta, Indonesia where she will be residing. We will surely miss you.
