MANILA, Philippines – Classical music fans are in for a treat this month with the upcoming concert of world-renowned Polish soprano Anna Stolarczyk at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
The concert is entitled A Night of Opera with Anna Stolarczyk with Pianist Solveig Breger and is set to take place on June 16, 7:30 p.m. at the CCP Little Theatre (Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino). It will feature performances of some of the world’s most beloved opera arias, much loved excerpts such as from Verdi’s La Traviata and Puccini’s La Boheme. Breger will also be accompanying Stolarczyk on the piano for her vocal performances.
Filipino tenor Nelson Caruncho will also be at the concert, with several planned vocal duets with Stolarczyk including selections from Andrew Lloyd Weber’s Phantom of the Opera.
All three performers have achieved considerable success in the world of classical music, opera and musical theatre.
A Night of Opera with Anna Stolarczyk with Pianist Solveig Breger is a benefit concert for the scholarship program of the Chief Justice Claudio Teehankee Library and Center for the Rule of Law.
Spearheading the organizational efforts behind this one-night concert recital is newly-minted lawyer Alex Teehankee Rivera, an avid opera fan and who first met these rising musical artists in Geneva while training with his uncle, Ambassador Manuel Teehankee. Rivera says the concert is his way of sharing his musical passions with the rest of the country.
“The Philippines misses out on a lot when it comes to classical music, and so it is really important to expose the country to some of the best performers of the music today,” says Rivera. “Anna is a tremendously talented singer, and I am very happy that we were able to put together this upcoming concert with Solveig and Nelson.”
(Tickets for the concert are now being sold at the Ticketworld at 891-9999 or at the CCP Box Office.)
