The Maestro of Philippine Art

The Fernando C. Amorsolo Art Foundation Inc. recently launched the book Maestro Fernando C. Amorsolo: Recollections of the Amorsolo Family at The Fort’s Blue Leaf Banyan Pavilion. This 347-page coffeetable book shares intimate stories that reveal the human side of the painter’s vast talent. In this work, which took two years to finish, we meet “The Grand Old Man of Philippine Art” as a “father, husband, grandfather, mentor, artist and friend.” Vintage black-and-white photographs showing the Maestro at work, entertaining dignitaries, traveling abroad or having quality time at home with family will be seen by the public for the first time.

Friendship without borders
Upon the invitation of the Republic of Bulgaria and the International Friendship Exchange Council (FEC), Bulgaria Consul Rene Ledesma, accompanied by his wife, Monaco Consul Fortune Aleta-Ledesma, recently attended the Commemorative Ceremony for the 50th anniversary of the reestablishment of diplomatic ties between the Republic of Bulgaria and Japan held in Tokyo. They met with Republic of Bulgaria President Georgi Parvanov and wife Zorka along with their Imperial Highnesses Prince and Princess Akishino of Japan in formal ceremonies at the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo.
